|Peter Gianakura, Author|
SAULT STE. MARIE, MI – June 18, 2012 – Local author Peter Gianakura has released an audio version of his book, An American Café: Reflections From The Grill. Originally published in 2009, the book is a collection of delightful tales about the small restaurant that Peter ran for 43 years in downtown Sault Ste. Marie. The audio version, now available unabridged on CD, lets listeners experience the added richness of hearing the stories told in the author’s own voice. Also featured is Peter’s wife, Georgia, reading their daughter’s introduction to the book, “Tales from the Table.”
Recorded and manufactured locally in Brimley, this is the first audio book to be recorded at Lake Street Studio and produced by Borderland Records. Previously, Borderland Records produced John Johnston: His Life and Times in the Fur Trade Era, a CD of original music by EUP artists Dave Stanaway and Susan Askwith.
An American Café depicts everyday life in a particular Midwestern town, but its stories have a universal appeal. With this new audio version of Peter’s “reflections from the grill,” listeners have a chance to connect in a new way to stories about a place at the center of a small town and the people who gathered there.
Peter will host a book and audio book signing at the Soo Theatre on Ashmun Street on two dates: Friday, June 22, from 3:30 to 5 p.m., and Saturday, June 23, from 3 to 5:30 p.m. The public is invited. Both the audio book and the paperback will be available for purchase. Friday's event will also include an Ice Cream Social provided by the Soo Theatre Project with entertainment by STARS summer camp students.
